THE PULLEY.
This apparatus is very similar to the table just described ; but this
table itself is without any machinery. A man takes his stand overhead,
and has a string that passes down the wall and under the floor
immediately under the player's foot, where a spring is fastened to the
floor in which is a small peg which passes through a hole and comes in
contact with the foot. The string is made fast to this spring on the
under side, and the peg protrudes and strikes the bottom of his foot
whenever the string is pulled.
