THE INSEPARABLE HEAD.
A figure is shown to the audience, and a knife is allowed to be handled
by them. This knife is seen, and does pass clean through the neck from
front to back, and then in reverse, and yet the head remains on the
shoulders, though the figure may be shaken violently or held heels up.
Explanation.—The head and the shoulders end in magnets,
or one has a magnet and the other a piece of soft iron, so that the
blade in passing through but transiently severs the contact.
