JAPANESE DAY FIREWORKS.
That inventive nation, the Japanese, imagine pyrotechnic displays
visible by daylight. Instead of bombs containing fiery stars and
serpents, they send out jets of smoke, which in exploding assume
various shapes, as of animals and other creatures. One of the most
effective is a cuttle-fish, with its limbs reaching out on all sides.
Or the shells enclose parachutes of many colours.
